Thursday, July 9 to Wednesday, July 15

As of Wednesday, July 15. Read it in about ninety seconds.

The Dodgers got swept at home by the Arizona Diamondbacks this stretch, dropping all three games. They lost 3-9 on Friday, July 10, then 2-9 on Saturday, July 11, then 3-5 on Sunday, July 12. That's three straight losses and it's not a small margin either, the D-backs outscored them 23-8 across the series.

The good news is the division didn't move. The Dodgers are still first in the National League West, same as before this stretch, and the games back number didn't change either, sitting at 0. But the run differential took a hit, dropping from 164 to 149. The Diamondbacks themselves went 4-0 in their own window and are now 11.5 games back, so no real threat there. The Padres went 2-2 and sit 12.5 back. Over the last ten games the Dodgers are an even 5-5.

Shohei Ohtani (DH) was the one bright spot at the plate. He hit a home run in both the July 10 and July 12 games, and over the three games against Arizona he went 4 for 11 with 2 home runs and 2 RBI, batting .364 for the stretch. Andy Pages (CF) also had a strong day on July 10, going 3 for 4 with a home run and an RBI.

Since then, things have gone quiet. The Dodgers haven't played since that July 12 loss, because the league paused for the MLB All-Star Game on July 14. There were no roster moves during this stretch. Play resumes Friday, July 17, when the Dodgers head to Yankee Stadium to open a three game series against the New York Yankees, first pitch at 4:05 PM. That series is your next chance to see this team snap out of it.

Why you can trust the numbers

Every voiced catch-up is written from one source: the box scores of the games you missed. A separate checker reads it back against those box scores, line by line, before it reaches you. If a single score, date, or name cannot be verified, you get the plain numbers instead. Nothing invented ever ships.
